Our mission
At Abilities First Inc, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Our approach is rooted in evidence-based occupational therapy, delivered in a warm, play-centered environment where children feel safe to grow.
We partner closely with families, caregivers, and educators to create individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique needs — from sensory processing and fine motor development to daily living skills and social participation.

Dusty Cox, MS, OTR/L
Owner & Occupational Therapist
Dusty Cox is a licensed Occupational Therapist with over 24 years of experience working with children across a wide range of developmental, sensory, and neurological needs.
With a Master of Science degree and a deep passion for pediatric care, Dusty founded Abilities First Inc to provide families in the Kansas City area with compassionate, high-quality therapy services in a welcoming, child-centered setting.
Dusty takes a holistic, family-centered approach — working not just with the child, but alongside parents and caregivers to build skills that carry over into everyday life at home, school, and in the community.
